Blustery loss in Women's Premier League

Kanwal defeated Southern and Ettalong, 8-1, in their Women's Premier League soccer match played in blustery conditions at Wadalba on Sunday, May 21.

Kanwal, looking to consolidate their spot in the top four, welcomed the Lionesses who were looking to make amends from the last time these two sides met.

Kanwal dominated from the outset, racing to a three-goal lead inside the first 15 minutes.

The Bulls continued to dominate the game, but a combination of good keeping and poor finishing kept the game at 3-0 until a goal just before the break gave Kanwal a 4-0 lead.

The second half didn't see much change as Kanwal kept up the pressure when going forward while remaining solid at the back to thwart away any Southern attack.

Two more Kanwal goals by Jordan Evans in the second half took her total for the match to five, and her total of the year to 11, to join Kayla Vanderfield at the top of the Women's Premier League golden boot standings.

Kanwal scored another two to take the game to 8-0, before Southern scored a late consolation goal through Sophie Trengrove to spoil Kanwal's clean sheet as the game ended 8-1 in favour of the home side.

Match official was Jayden Downs
